Pc for aa?

I used to play AA back in 1.5, I miss it, and now that I'm planning on transferring to the army, I would like that little symbol next to my name, anyways.

I need to know what kind of pc to get for gaming. I don't want one with 70-90 FPS on CSS and 8-20 on AA (LIKE I HAVE NOW)

Someone with a great framerate with optimal graphics settings please reply.

America's Army is a dated game which will not require too much beef to run well.

My suggestions.

Gigabyte Motherboard with at least one PCIe Video card slot x16 Gigabyte board will default to 1333, check it carefully.

Dual core CPU 3.33 speed with 1333 bus.

Zalman 9700 CPU Cooler with artic silver.

4 gigs of Gskill 12800 RAM running at 1333. Make sure you have the red RAM coolers with the ram. Dont scrimp and cheap out buying basic ram green and black modules.

SSD Hard drive for your windows local.

SSD Hard drive for your games. I recommend the Intel X25 which is one of the best out there.

You will want a icydock or some kind of 2.5 to 3.5 inch adaptor for your SSD's

You may still have a copy of XP Pro 32 bit and you can use it. If not? You might want to check around AA forums for compatibility with Windows 7 32 bit.

Now, your power supply could be a Antec 650 watt certified silver. (SLI or Crossfire and good power output...) Make sure that you have 20+4 power cord that matches whatever motherboard's 20+4 power input socket.

A case with lots of cooling. A Lian Coolermaster or a Antec 902 case comes to mind.

Your video card will make or break your entire system.

Pick a video card that has 256 BITS of processing BACKED by at least 512 meg of memory. DO NOT pick a video card with more than 1 GB of memory because there are issues with very large amounts of memory. The more bits you buy on one video card... 512 even the more easier your card will render and send video.

I suggest a Nvidia. Because I had ATI cards and suffered until BFBC2 patched me to load quickly. Companies like Nvidia cards. Maybe a GTX 260 or stronger will do you.

Try to limit the amount of stuff you put into that case. More stuff, more heat. If you put enough into your computer you will be able to heat the whole home in winter or fry yourself in summer.

PICK a MONITOR with 2ms REFRESH Speed or FASTER. DONT COMPROMISE on a 5ms or 10 ms monitor because it looks nicer or is bigger. 2ms refresh is very fast and good for gaming. I use a old Samsung 22 inch syncmaster 932bw

Buy a DVI cable for your video card to your monitor. Forget about HDMI and all that fancy stuff.

Get a G500 Mouse from Logitech. You will learn that this mouse will raise your "DPI" RATE very high to swing a tank turret very fast across the battlefield or lower your DPI rate so low to force your sniper scope to shoot one eye or the other eye of the enemy without skipping all over the place.

Get a G15 gaming keyboard.

That happens to be the specs on my wife's rig. It will run anything up to COD4 without any problems. I use a much bigger computer to run BFBC2 and soon MOH.

I don't know anything about frame rates. Anything above 60 is good. Your connection will determine if you hear those footsteps in time from that knifer sneaking up on you.

And for that you want the Logitech G35 7.1 USB Headset or equivalent.

LG Optical DVD drive. Blue Ray not necessary yet.

Between 700 dollars using recycled case and guts to about 1400 complete.

Regarding RAM. BUY two modules of MATCHED SET at a time. DONT FALL FOR THE 4 or 6 or 8 Gigs of MATCHED sets, the costs are much larger and all the modules may or may not be made at the same season of the year.

RESIST the temptation to buy the latest and greatest, DONT buy OPEN BOX because it is or was someone else's RMA (RETURNED ITEM) for some issue.

DO take the time to read the reviews and search out the ones that name America's Army game as actually using hardware.

Make several choices carefully Your motherboard determines your system.

Dont you dare walk into a store and buy a computer. You are going to be stuck with a machine that has cheap something important or a machine that is built with just that design only and no way to replace a failed part.

And the Internet last I looked is tax free. With free shipping it's wonderful.

EXAMINE and study each part you CHOOSE by visiting the FACTORY WEBSITE that MADE the item and downloading the manual and reading.

Go to Toms Hardware and other review sites to learn about good or bad hardware.

Since you are seeking to play AA your hardware needs should be easily met. If youre seeking to play MOH, then someone will have to show you how to design a BIG computer that will run that game like water.


Finally try to set aside about 30 dollars a month all year, all next year and the year after that. By the time you start to stutter, lag, die or slideshow on a POS computer that is aging you will already have the funds towards a new rig that you will build to break that bloated software known as games and take domination over your enemies.

Ok the last sentence was a bit of bravado. There are people who seriously build rigs and only the very most money spent with the top dollar hardware to run up 1000 knifes in week one of any retail game.

And there will be those whose systems are too runt weak to play a game and the forums will fill.

Get a Cyberpower 950 watt battery APU. That lightning storm that passes your home wont spike your machine and brick it while you are gaming. Hell, I have a gigantic spike preventive on my home now.

Find a router and use it. That router will be the one thing that helps you CLEAN up the shit that is trying to connect to your machine and stay connected to the game you are playing.

Do the best you can.

The beautiful computer you have designed for yourself, ordered parts for and are shipping to you will no longer be availible about two years later on Newegg. Moores law combined with profit margins mean that the stuff you buy today will not be sold after two years.

Best of all, you built it and you can keep all the disks and drivers to trouble shoot and maintain that machine for years to come without having to take it to a local computer store. If any still exist in this economy. All of them except Best Buy Geek Squad have closed.

John23, I wrote the post being conservative.

I have played TV game systems since Coleco, Atari and Sega Genesis etc. I aint spending a few hundred dollars for a Wii or Console systems. I strongly believe that a PC is still and always will be the KING in the Game World.

I recently put a 350 dollar Q9650 Quad Core into my existing gaming machine and discovered that MOH runs well enough on it to keep me alive.

Everyone else is going gaga over the I series Cores and frightfully FAST video, RAM and super uber motherboards. 6 cores are coming.

When I first built (Actually bought) the Pentium 1.6 gig chip was the cat's meow and the Ti4600 video card was the absolute best at the time. I had to wait three weeks while my card was caught up and air shipped asap to finish the build.

900 dollars of the 1100 I paid for the system at the time was just the CPU and the video card going all the way to the MAX for gaming hoping I did not have to build or buy again for years.

Today if I build a system, I am not compromising no more. Top dollar, fastest in spec and all equal across the board with as FEW parts as possible in the total build. I can easily spend several thousand dollars on such a system.

I already have on the current system and my wife's rebuild this year in the last 12 months. I built mine for BFBC2 and upgraded for MOH.

I will be upgrading again once I acquire that 1911 A1 I have been saving up for a long time.

If I was not spending so much building gaming computers for me and decent computers for the wife, I would have amassed a Weapons collection by now since shooting is my other expense after all the bills are paid.
