British Army gets new weapon

Yep, a new weapon to add to the ever growing list.

The purpose of the L129A1 is to provide British military forces with a 7.62mm semi-auto “sharpshooter” weapon.

This weapon looks vaguely familiar... hmmm.

Body and stock of an M4 with some barrel work.

That should not be so bad.

Active Duty can pick up this weapon and get right to it, no need to "Settle in" and get intimate with a new weapon.

I am thinking of the M14 EBR that designated sharpshooters have here in the USA. Is this the correct weapon for our Military in that role at the Platoon Level?

If so how does this compare to the Brit Weapon that seems to try and reuse existing components.

I also find it interesting that the 7+mm rounds are increasingly favored over the old Nato 5+ mm rounds. Why stop at 7? why not 8? or 10?

My post is my thoughts and opinions, I welcome any guidiance and corrections about Designated Marksmen because I believe strongly that these Marines and Soldiers do save lives in that role.
