LAN party though the internet
So Im reading this and thinking... while its not just great for older games, some of these tools could allow us a very quick and easy way to do a closed lan get together for our videos or just for flat out kicking each others asses.
Ideas?

I have a number of older games like Star Trek's BOTF (Late 90's ugh...) that no longer work online. Age of empires three etc.
I might give this a try, but who knows?

Mark, you're not going to believe this. Me and a few guys were getting tired of the ubisoft servers not connecting for Vegas 2. I remembered your post and we all downloaded and installed Tunngle. (I tried GameRanger first but it was lame) Tunngle is sweet! In no time at all we were all in a LAN party playing the game. The LAN side of the game doesn't require logging into the ubisoft downed servers. So it enabled us to play the game. We never have to say, "oh well we can't play that game right now" We are now able to get around the ubisoft server.
Tunngle is an awesome program. Thanks for the info.

Well Mark, it was a post worthwhile! As a matter of fact, Barry (in London) said it's the best connection he's ever had. He believes by bypassing the ubisoft servers it was a true pier to pier connection which improved his ping. He was scoring like never before during our previous sessions.
Heavy, if you need any help with the app let me know.
One quirk you should be aware of, after you install it and log in for the first time, when you try to double click and enter a selected game network... nothing happens. It wasn't until we killed the app and brought it back up again that it started to work. We never had any problems after that. It worked great. It seems to only have a problem when brought up for the first time.

Remember how many posts I made about the Splinter Cell Conviction server is not available? Well, SCC works with Tunngle also. Now it will always work, it won't be hit or miss.

Excellent info! I'm going to be squared away today.

An unintended but clearly welcome side effect of all the surfing, twitter monitoring and general clutter surrounding gaming!!
