So, I log into Steam this morning, load up Black Ops for some good ol' pistol fun time, and this is what I see:

48 levels, 12th Prestige, 380 hours of playtime. Gone in an instant.

"But Edwards, this just shows why you shouldn't hack."

I do not, nor will ever, do such a thing. The closest thing I do to 'hacking' is editting my config file to use as little CPU as possible because Black Ops is a horribly optimized game.

EDIT: Seems the forum didn't like me trying to post a picture, so, the link for now will do.

Makes me want to lobotimize Bobby Kotick. With a duckbill. Left-handed.

There was some problems last year with a patch or update that caused quite a few to be labeled under VAC as cheaters. Also Treyarch has been getting dinged lately over the same problem.

If it were a Steam issue (and I can't click on the link from my current location because of the firewall) then you may be able to take the matter up with them. The last fiasco was widespread.

If it is a Treyarch issue, I have no good answer.

It could be that VAC falsely recognized your rearranging of the config as hack. I've seen it happen before like that. Harmless changes being flagged as hacks, as some hacks/mods do modify the config file.

I would submit an appeal to Steam.

Issue was half-resolved.

Got my levels/prestige back, but lost all statistical data, such as Kills, Deaths, games played, etc.

Players shouldn't have to put up with this kind of jack, develops really need to do all they can to maximize their games so relatively simple crap like this does not happen.
