View Full Version : Setting up a Joystick in Bad Company 2

For what seemed like forever, I could never get the twist to work correctly in the flight controls for Bad Company 2. I was convinced it was something I was doing wrong, until I realized that Controller meant xbox controller for windows, not your joystick! I've played Battlefield for so long on a pc that I forget sometimes Bad Company 2 was a port! While I own an xbox controller for windows, I don't chose to fly with it. I only use it for racing games. So this is how I handled the situation:

I went into my Logitech profiler (free from Logitech for any of their joysticks) First, I went to the twist and inverted the action. Secondly, I went to the throttle settings and added a profile and called it "Throttle Modified". This modification went as follows: keystroke "." for increase throttle and keystroke "/" for decrease throttle. You may ask why didn't I just select the "w" and the "s". Well I'll tell you in a second... :sneaky2:

In the Bad Company 2 Pilot control settings, I changed the increase and decrease from the default "w" and "s" to "." and "/". Wala! I'm now flying properly in BC2 with a joystick. The throttle takes a little getting used to because it's not an analog action now, instead it's a press on press off state, but the middle is still nuetral and it works. As a matter of fact when the throttle is in the middle, it hovers. Thus explaining the few chopper kills I've gotten from when they hover. The reason I used the "." and the "/" is because I can throw the joystick down and don't have to worry if the throttle was left forward. That way my guys not constanly running forward because the "w" is being pressed all the time.

If you don't have a Logitech, look for a profiler from the maker of your stick. Post here with troubles and I'll be happy to try and help.

Enjoy!
