Well, it looks like the wait is finally over for Battlefield fans. Developer DICE has just confirmed that they will be showing Battlefield 3′s multiplayer at this year’s E3!

To be more precise, they will be showing both single-player and multiplayer at this year’s E3! Not only that but people can also expect new screenshots, trailers as well as in-depth press previews hitting next week.

If that wasn’t enough, they also confirmed a few things as well. First off, there will be a team deathmatch mode (TDM) for Battlefield 3! Will this be the same as Battlefield: Bad Company 2′s Squad Deathmatch? Could be but I sincerely doubt it.

There will be a map called “Operation Metro,” this intense close-quarter combat map will be available for the press to play at E3′s show floor. It also states, “Gamers will experience a physical battlefield and be able to temporarily disable vehicles, go prone, mount weapons, lay down suppressive fire and more.”

One thing they won’t be showing will be Battlefield 3′s extensive co-op campaign, but don’t get discouraged as they have also unveiled the first details of the Battlelog web destination.

What’s Battlelog you might ask? I’ll let DICE explain it for you.
"The Battlefield 3 Battlelog web destination – featuring powerful social tools, feeds and detailed player stats. Battlelog also lets you manage your friends lists, squad up, create platoons, use voice chat and follow your friends’ progress in real-time, and more. Battlelog will be available for the monthly fee of (drum roll)... zero dollars. We look forward to providing more information on these features in the near future!"So, are you Battlefield fans excited for this news or what? Can TDM work in Battlefield? Let us know in the comments!

tl;dr

:thumbup1:Multiplayer! (Which means weapons)
:thumbup1:New map to be unveiled (well, it'll all be new).

:blink:CoD-E just got curb-stumped by Battlelog, a free service.

:thumbdown:No information on Co-op.

A Dev I talked to said something to the effect "MW3 better hope the power goes out" Of course, he will remain nameless...LOL

I believe it.

CoD-E isn't really super. The free side of it is basically stat-tracking, Steam's friends list, and Facebook all rolled into one unoriginal 'burrito' for gamers.

From what I gathered from OneOfSwords's explanation, the premium side is simply "pay for this so you don't have to buy each and every Map Pack that we release". That's all Activision has put out for now.

Battlelog is the "work smarter, not harder" version of CoD-E.

Analogy time!

CoD-E is equal to going to Olive Garden, ordering up some good Italian food, and when it arrives, they give you chopsticks and a quart of 10W-40.

Battlelog is equal to getting a burger from a fast food place, and winning a free order of cinnamon twists (or some shit) from a contest they were running that you didn't know about.

I have the FAQ Activision recently released, when some things calm down on the Plastic Piranha side for me I will post it.

Perhaps there should be an "E3 2011" thread/channel.

...with grilled cheese, of course.

(What?! I like grilled cheese. Communists. *scoff*)

I will be buying both BF3 and MW3.

Just waiting for the information to start flowing plus the beta.

Yes I purchased some DLC on steam for MW2 recently and thought it was ok. But would be reluctant to pay top dollar except for a preorder.

I would not want Facebook tied up in my gaming. I play for me with friends when I can in good servers for myself. I am not and refuse to be looked at as someone who is living a life based on game stats.

Stats are nice, but eh...

Did someone say Disable vehicles? *Rubs hands with a evil grin... haw haw haw... that would be one of my tasks if I can get back there to get it done.

Hmm...

Call of Duty was (past tense) primarily a 'focused' down FPS, leaving out the wide-open area for fighting and having more of a CQB feel.

Battlefield is more of an open-end game, letting the snipers actually, well, do their job from range.

Now that MW3 is back in the hands of (what's left of) Infinity Ward (not to mention 2 other studios), my personal interest is to see if they return to their roots.

The biggest letdowns that I've had from Battlefield was no-prone in BFBC2, and slug shotgun baby-snipers.

When both are released, I'd love to hear about your commentary on each.

What that showed was beautiful. I'm surprised they showed vehicle combat primarily with only a few shots of infantry combat.

I'll probably end up with both BF3 and MW3, not going to lie, both games appeal to a different sense of style. It's like comparing a Chevy to a Ford is all.

The more I watch bf3 videos the more it feels like 70% bc2 and 30% bf2. I'm starting to worry about this game now and how much of it is actually a true sequal to bf2.

I tried posting that fucking press release, even the damn site choked on it. Too much....Regardless, it's not worth rehashing on the main site what 3000 others are doing, and too much to included in a forum post...

Never Rage Quit a damn upload before.

I'd love to hear about your opinion on Thunder Run's grasp of authenticity, being a 19K yourself. Things like how the sounds during maneuvers best grasped real life sounds, or what they got right in terms of the look on the inside of the Abrams.

I was a 19D, so my tank experience isn't up to the level of yours. I stuck to Humvees and Brads. (We also smell better)

Well the interior they pretty much had replicated it exactly how it is. The loader station was correct with the ammo doors being to the right of the loader. The commander's display seemed identical from the short glimpses that I saw it. Didn't really hear the hydraulic pump whine inside, but then again only a short amount of time was spent inside the tank. For the fifty cal, I've never seen that feeding device except on the CROWS version, which most likely not have the TAGS on them. As for the sights, that was purely fictional, there is no sights to the left of the gun tube nor do you ever see the gun tube from the sights unless you're doing an MRS update. The fire commands seem to be correct, however the loader "upped" the gun before any fire commands were issued. That's definitely a no go. Now I'm nit pickin' though, Dice did a fine job.
