GO*VETS GAME ON – 24 HR Marathon

What is GO*VETS ?

Recently we at Off Duty Gamers have become aware of GO*VETS (Guided Operations: Veterans Entrepreneurial Training System), a new foundation aimed at helping veterans transition back into the working world through job skill training and business training aimed to put veterans to work with other companies or on their own as motivated entrepreneurs. We’re going to help them through a marathon of gaming!

There are over 1.3 million veterans that are presently unemployed in the U.S., and over 12 million veterans that are under-employed. These are battle-proven professionals have a passion to serve others…they are loyal to a cause…and have strong desires to complete their task.

Who Do They Help

Requirements to Participate in the GOVETS Program

• You are an active duty, or discharged veteran having served in the U.S. military.
• You have a strong desire to start your own business.
• You are willing to learn the entrepreneurial system and interact with other veterans in the course.
• You agree to work with your assigned business coach and mentor.

How are they going to get it done?

The team at GO*VETS Foundation have decided to raise awareness for the foundation and for those who would be best served by it’s aims and goals through a 24 hour gaming marathon!

Since Off Duty Gamers is owned and staffed by active and prior service members of the military we are in a unique place to understand the needs in the market for this type of service and we are looking at working with GO*VETS to help further our own aims and goals to help reach even more veterans and that is why we are throwing our support for this initiative in hopes we can get your help.

Who are you playing for

Welcome to the GO*VETS GAME ON 24 Hour Video Game Marathon to benefit our military veterans. Dedicate your Game on August 18th to those the brave men and women who have done so much for us. Not only will you have fun playing in a video game marathon, you will be giving a vet a fighting chance to continue reaching success through educational scholarships and business/entrepreneurial training. Who are you playing for?

Who Benefits

Veterans and their Families – Funds raised go to GO*VETS Foundation which support veterans and their families through 3 pillars of service:

Professional business and entrepreneurial training
Scholarships, grants, and funding for education completion and business startup
Business opportunities and employment assistance

When: August 18th, 12:01 a.m. – August 19th, 12:01 a.m. EST 2012

Where: Your home, office, military base, or any other location where you can get your GAME ON

Who: Anyone with a passion to support our veterans or playing games

How: Simply plug yourself into your favorite chair, crack open a Verve, launch your favorite game, and test your skills for 24 hours.

Register yourself or join a team. Then take advantage of the amazing social media tools available to get others involved. The more people involved – The more Veterans are Helped. Once you register to participate, you can reach out to your friends, family, co-workers, and associates to support your efforts.

Registration/Fees

You can register for free, however, we suggest you pay $15 to register as a GAME ON – Elite participant.

GAME ON – Elite:

Those who register as a GAME ON – Elite participant, are able to enjoy all of the prizes and awards associated with this fundraising campaign.

Prizes and Awards based on funds raised

For Individuals

• $100 raised – GO*VETS wrist band
• $250 raised – $25 AMEX Gift Card plus GO*VETS T-Shirt
• $500 raised – $50 AMEX Gift Card plus GO*VETS T-Shirt
• $750 raised – Case of VERVE – the insanely healthy energy drink
• $1,000 raised – $100 Gift Card OR Master Entrepreneur Series Small Business Starter Program
• $5,000 raised – iPad 2 or a $500 Gift Certificate from AMEX
• $10,000 raised – US Veterans Travel/Carlson/Princess cruise with a special celebrity guest and will receive Master Entrepreneur Training on the cruise
• Additional prizes may include: games, hardware, gift cards, energy drinks, and travel

The Ultimate GAME ON Award

GO*VETS Foundation will personally award to the top individual and top team the Ultimate GAME ON Award. This award will go to the individual and to the team who raises the most donations.

The Step-Up Awards

To make this marathon really fun, we have designed some special awards for the FIRST PERSON, and the FIRST TEAM to reach major milestones.

The First Person to raise $5,000 will receive a package of GO*VETS merchandise, U.S. Veterans Travel deals, a very special individual plaque, and their name etched in infamy on the Step Up Award Grand Master plaque, plus a conversation with and signed merchandise from John Schneider, actor, signer and former star of the Dukes of Hazard.

The First Team to raise $10,000 will receive a very special team plaque, and their team name etched on the Step Up Award Grand Master plaque; plus a special conversation with John Schneider, and a GO*VETS merchandise package.
