With the Red Orchestra 2 Game of the Year Edition now launched and thousands of people playing the game, here at Tripwire Interactive we decided it is time to launch the ”Counterattack” Community Mapping Contest for Red Orchestra 2. We’ve always been amazed at the cool custom content created by the Red Orchestra modding community, and have even hired previous map contest winners to work for Tripwire. With some great community maps created with the Red Orchestra 2 SDK already released we decided to put a spotlight on that talent and throw some fuel on the fire in the form of over $35,000 worth of cash and other prizes.
The contest starts NOW and will run with two judging phases in August and October. There will be cash prizes totalling $30,000 spread across the two phases, split between the best original new map for Red Orchestra 2 and the best map remake from Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 (or any of the great mods for the original game). And, as if $30,000 in cash prizes isn’t enough incentive, we have some further great prizes to award through the competition:
- Custom-painted EON-17S laptop from Origin PC (Sample here)
- Graphics cards from NVIDIA
- CPU & Motherboard from Intel
- And a whole pile of great Logitech peripherals
The full details for the competition, including rules and entry forms are available on the contest web page: http://www.heroesofstalingrad.com/counterattack-map-making-competition/. The final details of the prizes will be published soon. You don’t need to submit your entry for the contest until August – but you most probably need to start working on it!
Red Orchestra 2 is available on Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/35450/) and many other digital outlets. The SDK you’ll need to use is completely free to everyone who owns the game and can be downloaded from Steam.
