It was not long ago that the G155 hit the market and became a huge success in the gaming world. I personally use my G155 when I travel across the world. I have even used it in the field! It really is the perfect gaming solution for console gamers on the go. It was not until recently that the Project GAEMS Store launched and released a slew of awesome gaming gear to go along with your G155. At E3 this year GAEMS had an much bigger presence than we’d seen in the past. Everyone in the building wanted a look at this little black box. GAEMS announced new items, new features, and new models of their product. Lets Jump in shall we.
Last year the generation 1 product was launched. Already there is an updated version that is very close to release. The Sentry is basically a G155 with updates to the screen, body, speakers and other customization. You can now add Badges to replace the GAEMS logo at will. The inside of the case has been redesigned for more space as well as a bezel for the screen. Its the same size as the generation 1 so there are no worries about portability.
The Sentry is still easy as pie to deploy any where at will. The two latches pop open and like a clam shell the pearl that is the G155 Sentry is displayed. All you need now is two power outlets. We highly suggest you have a power-strip when you travel to make things easier.
While we were at the show we had a chance to talk directly to the production staff behind the product. Many points were made about how to make it more appealing to members of the military or to create a military version of the product. Since Velcro based identification and morale patches are a common item these days, we suggested a Velcro strip setup on the case so it can be customized without permanent changes. As we’ve done before we suggested possible alternate colors, we figured the best was Coyote Tan with black handles and while they can do it, they need to be sure to move a couple thousand units so feel free to comment here to tell us what you think of that. It’s good to see they are open to suggestions as it shows they really want to make a product that will suit our military community.
Two new additions to the G155 upgrade line include the Battle Bag and the B.O.T. The Bot is an attachment that allows you to use the G155 as a rolling suitcase. Either the Bag or the B.O.T will greatly improve mobility for the case.
Right now a Generation 1 G155 will run you about $200-$250 depending on where you look. The Sentry will most likely run $299 upon release. Not bad over all. The Project GAEMS store even sells bundle deals with consoles if you so choose.
** There is special pricing for the military so either ask us, ask Gaems directly or pick it up at your local military exchange (US)
Overall GAEMS impressed the hell out of me this year and they had an outstanding crew running the booth. Big shout out goes to Hannah Noble and Jessica Monda who can be referred to as the “GAEMS Girls”. GAEMS was promoting its next generation named ‘Vanguard’ but while there isn’t any pictures, it has a larger 19″ screen and 1080i resolution (up from 720p). We expect the booth to probably be twice this size next year. A special thanks goes out to GAEMS as I would not have been able to attend E3 without an invitation from them. It was great to finally meet the GAEMS team. It was truly a blast!!! Hope to see them again next year!
Here is a video I made that goes over a few key points as well as lets you see a few shots of the live action at the GAEMS booth.
