Did Danger Close slide in some secrets from the game in its first teaser trailer? As we were picking things apart we noticed that as the unit designations slipped by red dots were appearing on the map and for about 2 frames there is a clear shot of the world map with red dots.

The Map

Hotspots, Tier 1 Activity or Game Clues?

First, MM11c digs in

Assuming the locations are fairly accurately placed, here’s a location list for the 15 points

  1. Vercruz, Mexico
  2. Cartagegena, Colombia
  3. Madrid, Spain,
  4. Zurich, Switzerland,
  5. Berlin, Germany
  6. Stockholm, Sweden
  7. Warsaw Poland/or Hungry
  8. Algeria, (could also be Corsica or Sardinia in the Mediterranean)
  9. Mogidishu, Somalia
  10. Nairobi, Kenya
  11. Adan, Yemen
  12. Tripoli, Libiya
  13. Karachi, Pakistan
  14. Northern Area, Kasmir Province
  15. Basilan Island, Phillippines - This location confirmed game location from the Teaser Trailer the map is taken from

I cross referenced the dots using a good ol paper copy of my National Geographic Atlas that I have had for years. It’s expanded maps allowed me to narrow my guess down. Basically I looked in that region and lined up the dots as best as I could to known hotspots. Usually a capital or major city was in the area. So the caveat, the dots were big and red and covered several hectares of the map so this is my SWAG… (Scientific Wild Ass Guess).

As I said, the areas marked are known hotspots for terrorism or terrorism planning operations. Makes sense. The 9/11 hijackers planned in Germany, same with Abu Sayef in the Phillipines. News has reported that along the Horn of Africa and over in the Gulf Region, more and more terroist camps are springing up. Makes sense that groups like Hezbolla are making inroads into Central and South America by setting up camps in Mexico and Venezuala. Also Narco Terrorist have been in Colombia for years. Although Delta (SFOD-D) did fix Pablo Escobars ass a few years back!

Central America:

  • Mexico approximate area of Veracruz

South America:

  • Columbian/ Venezuelan border

North Africa (Left to Right):

  • Algiers, Algeria
  • Gabes, Tunisia. Tunis is an approximation

East Africa: (Left to Right)

  • Approximate area of Uganda and Kenyan border, Lake Victoria is the body of water pictured.
  • Somalia is on the eastern coast of the continent, red dot location is not in Mogadishu, but close to Xaafuun and Hordio.

Middle East: (Left to Right)

  • Yemen is the dot closest to Africa, looks like it is situated near Aden, on the other side is the United Arab Emirates, with the dot sitting on Dubai

India:

  • red dot is in Pakistan, near Karachi. Northeast of that the red dot appears to be in the area of Jammu and Kashmir (disputed area between India and Pakistan)

Philippine Islands:

  • Red dot is in the Southern Provinces, primarily Muslim area. Sits approximately on the location of General Santos City.

Europe

  • Madrid, Spain
  • Stockholm, Sweden
  • Skoder, Albania (just behind the “heel” of Italy) very close to Montenegro border. (if it were Italy, we would see the Carabinieri listed)
  • Berlin, Germany approximate

What do YOU think?

We’re going to reference this map now and then as information comes in on Medal of Honor: Warfighter but what do you think this represents? Did the team at Danger Close leave us some bread crumbs to follow? Foreshadow the games progression? Show areas that will be map locations for multiplayer or did they just have a little fun with us to see IF we noticed the map and send us on a trip down the rabbit hole?

Wonder what they’ll put in the next video and if there’s more to the story?
