Ever since I played Uncharted 2 on the PS3 I was completely blown away. Ever since then, I’ve searched for a PC game with the same stunning graphics and ability built into the game. I’ve owned an Xbox 360 and currently have two PS3′s in the house, but still prefer PC for most of my gaming, especially when it comes to shooters. The ability to play cooperatively with friends, climb and scale within a virtual world, grab cover, initiate hand to hand combat with your enemy, and use a variety of weapons while doing all of the above is fantastic. Uncharted 2 is an amazing game!

Splinter Cell Convicton comes very close to matching the overall ability of Uncharted 2. For starters, you can play cooperatively with a friend. The graphics also look very nice. I’d say they don’t look bad at all for a DirectX9c based game. I’ve grown to like how the game displays as black and white while you’re in the shadows and in color when you’re more exposed. It makes me feel like I’m hiding in the dark. A lot of things within the environment can be climbed or scaled. An indicator is displayed letting you know when you can interact with something. I really enjoy being able to approach an enemy from behind and grab him to preform a deadly move. With Sam Fisher you can do just that. You can even grab an enemy and use him for cover. There’s also an added ability in the game where you can interrogate an enemy by grabbing him by the neck and commence to pound the truth out of them. I think that is both hillarious and fun. I found an unexpected bonus where Sam Fisher is remembering his time in the Gulf War and you get to move through a war torn landscape taking out enemies with a scoped rifle. Yes that’s right, I said scoped! While in the third person perspective, when you sight in during this part of the game, your game zooms in real fast to the scope creating a first person perspective. It looks and feels fantastic.

I highly recommend this game for people who like third person shooters. I’ve talked a friend into getting this title and we are going to be attacking and killing the enemy together very soon. It will seriously add to the fun of this game. I can only imagine what the game would be like if you could cooperatively  have more than 2 players with the incredible abilities that the game has. Maybe they’ll graduate to that in the future. One last thing, before you decide to purchase this title be sure to check out my article about Ubisoft’s DRM here. If the DRM requirements don’t bother you then you won’t be disappointed.
